Anna Nicole's Attorney Quits, Citing Disagreement

Michael Scott, Anna Nicole Smith's lead attorney in the Bahamas has quit as a counsel for the former Playboy model whose 20-year-old son Daniel Smith died Sept. 10.

Scott cited disagreements on matters of strategy and concerns about her conduct and said he was unsettled by the reality TV star's decision to marry her boyfriend even before she made funeral arrangements for Daniel Smith.

Scott told the AP, "A disagreement on a commercial transaction made it difficult for us to remain as counsel."

The embalmed body of Daniel Smith is reportedly lying at a Nassau funeral home awaiting further instructions from the family.

Scott, who was also the attorney for Daniel Smith's estate told the AP that the decision to quit came Tuesday after consulting with his partners. He said he has notified Anna Nicole Smith in writing.

"It was not really an amicable parting," added Smith.

Citing disagreements with Smith's boyfriend and longtime attorney Howard K. Stern, who claims he is the father of Anna Nicole's newborn daughter. In the interview Scott said that there were "strong differences of opinion between myself and Howard over strategies."

Daniel Smith's Clean Test

The first toxicology test performed on Anna Nicole Smith's dead son has revealed no traces of illegal substances in his bloodstream.

The blood test was taken at the hospital in the Bahamas where Daniel, 20, unexpectedly died by his mother's bedside on September 10, three days after she gave birth to his baby sister.

Anna Nicole's attorney, Howard K. Stern, said that the report only found traces of the antidepressant Lexapro and sleeping medication Ambien, but not in doses high enough to cause sudden death.

Anna is still waiting for toxicology reports from two autopsies - one carried out by the Bahamian authorities and the other performed by Cyril Wecht, a private forensic pathologist she independently hired.

Both examinations returned inconclusive verdicts on the cause of death, butt the results of further blood tests are still to come. The autopsies did rule out a number of natural causes of death.

Wecht also concluded that Daniel had been taken medication for depression, but added he was not suicidal.

On Wednesday (20.09.06), Bahamian officials issued a death certificate and released Daniel's body to Anna Nicole, who is said to be so devastated by her loss she has suffered memory loss.

Meanwhile, film producer David Giancola said that Daniel - who worked as an apprentice on Giancola's movie 'Illegal Alien' - was rushed to hospital on several occasions in August suffering from an elevated heart rate.
